Old Bailey Restaurant
Designed by Herzog & de Meuron, Tai Kwun is the latest historic building renovation landmark in Hong Kong, formerly the British colony’s main police station, magistracy, and prison. Old Bailey Restaurant is located in Tai Kwun’s JC Contemporary building. Upon entering, it is the Artist’s Book Library, a public space where you can sit comfortably with an art book, and then further inside is a formal dining room. From the very beginning we had worked closely with Herzog & de Meuron, testing countless prototype and colour and surface treatment, to arrive at a set of bamboo products, book shelf, serving table, bar counter, wall and louver panel, that help to create the touch and ambience wanted by the architect. It is a beautifully set of bamboo products well recognized by the market.
